This first week of college lacrosse in March is another week of a shifting top 25. Towson took down Loyola in an early game this week, and the number 1 spot is up for grabs. There are plenty of great games going down on Saturday; but, as always, there are just too many to watch. Here are our predicted top games of the week and our predictions for the scores. Doesn’t it just feel great to have college lacrosse back?
NCAA Men’s Division 1 Lacrosse Predictions: March 1 & 3
Now the 2nd of March is the biggest game-day of the weekend, but the 1st and 3rd have two huge matchups. Duke is taking on Richmond, while Maryland takes on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on Sunday. These are can’t miss games if you’re not really busy Friday or Sunday. And if you are busy, try to make up an excuse to watch.
Duke Demotes Richmond to Remedial Level
Richmond has come out very hot this season with only one loss to #3 Maryland that was also only by one goal. That’s very impressive for this squad, but it probably hasn’t impressed the Blue Devils. Duke is still a top dog in the country and always ready to feast. You don’t want to come up on Danowski and the Devils acting like your big and bad because that can get you beat…bad.
I still like Richmond, even though Duke will likely put a smacking on them. They’ve shown a lot of promise for a young team, and there’s no reason they can’t show off an upset if they get lucky. The Spiders are coming off of an impressive win over Notre Dame; but, Duke did just take down Denver and Penn in consecutive games. It’s been a wild season so far and this game should be of the very same brand. After all, HPU did take down Duke earlier this year and that’s only about the 3rd biggest surprise. Then again, lighting doesn’t normally strike the same spot. Prediction: Duke +5 goals.
Maryland Makes Notre Dame A Damsel in Distress
Never sleep on the Terps. Slow and steady wins the race, and that’s exactly what Maryland has been this year. Most of their wins have been of slim margins, but all of there losses are nonexistent. After the Loyola of Maryland loss to Towson, the #1 spot should be Maryland’s for the taking. The only thing standing in their way is a Notre Dame team that just dropped a 1 goal game to Richmond.
The fighting Irish just don’t seem like their usual selves so far without the normal names you know and love. Sure Corrigan and Costabile are still there, but what of Ryder Garnsey? I miss his cellys and goals lighting up Arlotta field. Without his pizazz, the Irish are still a strong squad; but, they just aren’t strong enough to muscle out Maryland from taking the crown. Prediction: Terps +3 goals.
NCAA Men’s Division 1 Lacrosse Predictions: March 2
This is the grand daddy game day and we’re looking at thirteen of the best ones on the docket. March 2nd is gonna be along day for you if you can somehow find a way to fit all of this lacrosse in. So kick back, relax, and enjoy these predictions of NCAA men’s lacrosse.
Colgate Coagulates the Chances of Lehigh
Can’t count out this Colgate squad from putting up a W. Prediction: Colgate +4 goals.
Cornell Clobbers Albany
Cornell and Albany aren’t that far apart distance wise, but they might end up far apart goal wise. Prediction: Cornell +6 goals.
Utah Takes it to Furman
Some are calling Utah “America’s team,” and you don’t want to bet against the USA. Prediction: Utah +2 goals.
High Point Points Robert Morris to the Door
HPU is gonna say PU to Robert Morris this weekend cause they’ll be acting like Robert Morris stinks. This opinion is not endorsed by Stringers Society, any member of the Stringers Society team, or Stringers Society related affiliates. Prediction: HPU +6 goals.
Hofstra Hits the Hoyas Where it Hurts
Hofstra lions vs Georgetown bulldogs doesn’t sound like a fair fight. The G-men are a legit squad though , and anyone who saw them play last year knows they can actually ball. That being said. Prediction: Hofstra +1 goal.
OSU Says Oh No You Don’t to Marquette
The Buckeyes have been bucking like broncos this year, and after their fall from grace in 2017 they could use an up year. Wouldn’t want to be Marquette this weekend. Prediction: OSU +4 goals.
Denver Dodges a Loss to UNC
Denver is still looking to prove their value against a top 25 team this year, and UNC gives them a perfect chance to show off their skill this weekend. Prediction: Denver +2 goals.
PSU Pounds Penn into the Pavement
This inter-Pennsylvania matchup is gonna be one for the ages, if you consider one for the ages a lopsided victory for the Nittany Lions. Prediction: PSU +8 goals.
Brown Breaks Down UMBC
Luckily for UMBC, all dogs go to heaven. Brown might be looking to put on a show of dominance if they get the opportunity, but they’ll likely keep it close with this weekend. Prediction: Brown +2 goals.
Villanova Vindicates Themselves Against Delaware
Villanova is riding an OT wave that is unparalleled. After taking down #1 Yale in an upset for the ages, they took Hofstra to OT and won in their very next game. I like the way this looks for the Wildcats, and you gotta go with the hot hand. Sorry Delaware. Prediction: Nova +1 goal.
Yale Amasses A Mass of Goals Against UMass
I think that title said it all. Bulldogs bulldoze and that’s that. Prediction: Yale +6 goals.
Syracuse Says Sayonara to Virginia
Even though UVA had a solid win against Princeton, Syracuse is gonna be the orange team walking away with the W on Saturday. Prediction: Cuse +3 goals.
Hopkins Hurdles Princeton
Hopkins takes down UNC, so why can’t they put the hurting on Princeton? Not looking hot for the Tigers on the 2nd. Prediction: Hopkins +2 goals.
