Albany Men’s Lacrosse vs. Maryland Men’s Lacrosse
Albany (5-0) beat Maryland (5-1) in a tight 11-10 match to then solidify their dominant spot. The game everyone was looking forward to watching did not disappoint. In the battle of the undefeated, #1 Albany traveling to #2 Maryland, there was great action throughout the whole game. Maryland started off the game hot, looking really good and in control. They went into halftime up 6-3, and even into the 4th quarter up 10-6 but could not stop the Great Danes in the last quarter. Albany was led by their main man Connor Kelly who had 2 goals and 3 assists. They spread the rest of their scoring around the midfield and attack. The Terps started off playing terrific defense and were holding the high powered offense.
It was a very close statistical game all around. Albany had to fight back the entire game. With a slower start than they are used to they had some catching up to do. They had a few players with some hat tricks including the beast Connor Fields with 4 goals and assists, Jakob Petterson 4 Goals and Kyle McClancy with 3. Their other studs Tehoka Nanticoke went 1 assist with 8 shots and TD Ierlan had 9 ground balls and went 14 for 24 at the X.
Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse vs. Denver Men’s Lacrosse
Notre Dame (3-2) beats Denver (4-2) 11-9. A great matchup to always watch almost all their recent games have ended with a 1 goal difference. This one was just like the others. Notre Dame started the game hot with goals coming right after. They put up 6 in the first and went up 8-3 at the half. The Irish were led by Bryan Costabile with 3 goals and Brendan Gleason had 4 goals adding to the Irish’s total. The team mainly scored off individual dodges as they only had 3 assists all game.
Denver was trying to scrap back all game but could not get past the stout defense. The leftie slinger Ethan Walker had 5 goals on 5 shots, along with Austin French had 1 goal 2 assists, and Drew Supinski with 2 goals and 1 assist. The face-off king Trevor Baptiste went 15 for 24 and 9 ground balls.
John Hopkins Men’s Lacrosse vs. Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse
Johns Hopkins (3-2) beats Syracuse (3-2) 18-7. Syracuse takes its second bad loss at home early this season. They were coming off an emotional 1 goal away win over Virginia. The Orange had one man get a hat trick to lead their scoring Jamie Trimboli with 3 goals. Hopkins had to score from all over coming off of 46 shots, along with solid defense. Their fierce attack trio went 3 goals for Kyle Marr, 2 goals 3 assists for Shack Stanwick, and 4 goals 1 assist for big man Cole Williams. Out of their midfield, Joel Tinney had 4 assists and Alex Concannon with 3 goals and 2 assists. This was the largest margin of victory in this rivalry since 2004.
Princeton Men’s Lacrosse vs. Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse
Princeton (3-2) beats Rutgers (4-2) 15-14 OT. Another rivalry game but this one was a little closer. A back and forth fought game followed by a solid run by Princeton get force overtime and then win it. The Tigers star balled out Michael Sowers had 3 goals and 6 assists. Along with him, middie Austin Sims also had 5 goals on 13 shots and the game-winning goal. Rutgers started strong and was playing well all game but lost the 4th quarter 4-1 and let the game slip away from them. They were led by Kieran Mullins, Jules Heningburg who both had 6 points and Casey Rose with the hat trick.
Duke Men’s Lacrosse vs. Loyola Men’s Lacrosse
Duke (6-1) beats Loyola (4-2) 13-9. A big road win for Duke a top 10 matchup. The Greyhounds started the game off on top going up 3-1 after 1 quarter; but then after that, Duke completely took over. The Blue Devils then won the 2nd and 3rd combined 9-2 and never looked back. They had a few players get a solid amount of points Brad Smith and Peter Conley with 4 goals and 2 assists for both of them. From attack, Joe Robertson had 3 goals on 10 shots, and their stud Justin Guterding was held to 1 goal and 1 assist. Duke’s fogo Joe Stein also went 17 for 25 and 9 ground balls.
Loyola just couldn’t keep up after the first quarter and let up a 7 goal run. They also had two middies, John Duffy and Joe Drapeau, get hat tricks. Their producer Pat Spencer was held to 3 assists.
