Lax Room Delivers A Grail With 8 Diamond Lacrosse Mesh

Exaggeration aside, this mesh is incredible in more than one way. Honestly, it’s something that plenty of stringers and players have been looking for and something we expect to be a huge hit. This isn’t exactly a common occurrence either. There are currently more lacrosse mesh brands and different variations than there are countries in the world, so obviously not all can be monumental. However, in this case, we think LaxRoom might have really made a big jump for lacrosse. After almost a month of playing with LaxRoom’s 8 diamond lacrosse, we have plenty of opinions to share. So, for an easy walkthrough, we’ll cover a few categories and rate each of them for you.

8 diamond lacrosse mesh from LaxRoom is not only versatile, but it can make you versatile too. The game of lacrosse is changing and being able to handle the ball has never been more important. D-middies, LSM’s, and Defenders are scoring and transitioning the ball more than ever before. This is because of the sped-up gameplay, emphasis on stick skills, and lack of defined roles on teams. Coaches want players that can do it all and 8 diamond mesh can help with your versatility.

This gives you options of how you want to be able to play with the ball no matter your position. Having these options opens the door to versatility and can turn a meat stick into a star scorer. While it’s not all the mesh’s fault when a player is good or bad, having a versatile mesh like LaxRoom’s 8 diamond lacrosse mesh can’t hurt.

Stringibility

Being able to string your mesh well, or have it strung well, makes all the difference. A product can’t really be that great if it is never able to be applied for its use. There are several meshes that are too difficult to string and they never let players really experience their benefits. This isn’t the case with 8 diamond mesh, but there is a learning curve.

Stringers who have tried their hand at 6 diamond mesh (especially LaxRoom’s awesome 6 D) know that the channel rules the mesh. Having a channel that is too tight can ruin your stick and have you throwing into the ground. This means that not pulling down the mesh as much is your best bet. You obviously will still have a channel because the larger diamonds will form a natural one, and you also will still have hold. Novice stringers can make this mistake easily when trying to form a pocket, but after a few tries most people should figure it out rather easily. It was definitely a fun time to string and allowed for plenty of options (check Versatility).

Break In (-ability)

A trademark of LaxRoom performance lacrosse mesh is a quick break in. Their 6 diamond lacrosse mesh has a very similar break-in period of about 20 minutes for play and about 5 days for a fully settled mesh, just like their new 8 diamond lacrosse mesh. Well, let’s all save some time here and I’ll let you just look at the star rating.

Feel

Knowing the exact point of release in your stick, exactly when the ball is secure, and exactly where the ball is resting are all crucial. All of this equates to the “feel” in your stick that the mesh gives you. A simple way to understand how feel can be improved is by looking at how much mesh touches the ball at one time. This is a balancing act of thickness and surface area.

The thinnest mesh with the lowest surface area will allow for the highest amount of “feel” in your stick. Since the mesh has 8 diamonds instead of the normal 10, there is a lower amount of surface area that is touched by the ball. This is also complemented by the thinness of the 8 diamond lacrosse mesh. Overall, these two factors are always going to determine the feel of the mesh, unless the mesh is an outlier like a traditional pocket. LaxRoom’s 8 diamond lacrosse mesh is a dream when it comes to feel, and it’s easily one of the best options like The Warrior Warp.

Consistency

The Grand-Daddy of all lacrosse mesh qualities: consistency. If your mesh is bad and it’s consistent you can at least learn to play with it and adjust to it. Inconsistency in your mesh is not only going to make it difficult to play, it will make it difficult for you to get better as a player. Using a consistent mesh that can be replicated in several sticks over and over again allows for muscle memory that makes your play consistent too. LaxRoom’s 8 diamond lacrosse mesh was easily manipulated to create many styles of pockets that worked well. Having this level of consistency isn’t unheard of, but it is above that of your average mesh. I’d compare it to StringKing’s 3s/3x or ECD’s Vortex mesh, but with more versatility. It also has a similar knuckle to knuckle of the middle of ECD Vortex, but in the whole piece of mesh.

When we tried a high pocket with the 8 D and had more whip, it was consistent. Then our low pocket with a truer release was just as consistent if not better. It seemed like no matter what we tried it didn’t take long to adjust to the release. But the best part was that each pocket had amazing hold no matter the shooter, pocket, or channel setup. This was something we had never seen before in a natural mesh, and that’s why LaxRoom’s 8 D is truly life-changing.
