A well-strung pocket, such as a women’s ladder pocket with perfectly strung leathers and sidewalls, can significantly impact ball control, throwing accuracy, and overall performance. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your technique, this comprehensive guide will walk you through each step of the process, ensuring a flawless pocket.
Materials
- Lacrosse Head
- Four Lacrosse Leathers
- One Lacrosse Sidewall String
Instructions
Ready to create a perfect pocket? Follow these steps to attach your leathers:
1. Prepare Your Leathers
- Place a leather with the rough side facing up.
- Create a loop at the pointed end.
- Feed the squared end through the slits in the leather, bringing it around and through the loop.
2. Attach the Sidewall
- Tie a knot at one end of your sidewall string.
- Feed the unknotted end through a top hole on the outside of the lacrosse head.
- Pull it through, looping it back through the same hole.
3. Attach the Leathers
- Feed the sidewall through the back of the lacrosse head and through the gap at the top of the first leather.
- Pass the sidewall through the loop you made in the leather.
- Pull the sidewall back through the front of the head and through the loop again.
- Pull tightly to secure.
4. Repeat for Remaining Leathers:
Follow the same steps to attach the second, third, and fourth leathers, working down the side of the head.
5. Finish the Sidewall
- Feed the sidewall through a bottom hole on the inside of the head.
- Loop it back through the same hole and tie a secure knot.
- Trim any excess sidewall string.
- Carefully burn the cut end to prevent fraying.
